Alan Patterson

Head Professional

I took up the game of golf at age 15 and I quickly discovered that it was the game for me.  Initially, my handicap was 13 and four years later I was playing off scratch.  From early on, I realized my true passion was golf and I knew I wanted to pursue a professional career in the sport.

My first steps into the business side of the golf game came when I joined the team at City of Kingston Golf Course (formerly Moorabbin) on a part-time basis, which was then quickly followed by an offer to commence a Professional Golf Association Traineeship, under the guidance of Steve Grange.

During the second year of my Traineeship, I was selected to receive a full scholarship through the Victorian Institute of Sport, which I accepted for the remainder of my Traineeship.

During my four years on the Australasian Professional Golf Association Tour, my best finishes included a tie for 26th in the 2002 Australian Open and a tie for 17th in the 2003 New Zealand Open.

Following a decision to focus my efforts on the retail/management and coaching aspects of golf, I joined the team at Kingston Links Golf Course, where I fine-tuned my skills and gained valuable experience, until venturing out on my own.

During my tenure as Director of Berwick Golf Park, I was most proud of not only being able to achieve a solid customer base and steadily building clientele, but especially for establishing a thriving Junior Golf Program, which proved hugely popular and successful.

I am ready to embark on this exciting and rewarding challenge, which I understand will encompass the ability to multi-task, take initiative and most importantly a true dedication to outstanding customer service and love of golf.

These are all attributes I hope to share and pass onto the members and guests alike, of Patterson River Country Club.
